The Essential Quality of Investor
In stock market investing, an essential quality that investors must possess is detachment. One should not form attachments to the stocks of any particular company. Generally, if a company gives us a 100%, 200%, or even higher return, we naturally develop an attachment to that company. That's natural human behavior. However, it is a significant mistake. Such attachment can greatly influence us.
How do you remain detached from a company that has given good returns? Just think about this: for example, Kanaka holds our company's shares, so we must provide good returns. Does any company know this? If a company’s business is doing well, the stock price will rise. If not, the stock price will fall. There is no room for attachment here.
No matter which company is in my portfolio, no matter how much percentage return it has given, if a situation arises where I need to sell, I will do so without hesitation. When facts change, I just change my mind. This quality is very important for investors.
